I went to Porto for a few days because I had never been to Portugal. I did not quite know what to expect
but I knew I had to see the Iron Bridge and the Lello bookstore.
The city did not disappoint me although I missed Southern style window shutters. Enjoy the pictures!
Church of Saint Ildefonso. Built in the 18th century, it is notable for its azulejo facade.
Azulejo is a typical Portuguese architecture aspect; it is used both to decorate and control temperature.
Freedom (Liberty) Square. On the North side of the square there is municipality.
The monument is dedicated to Pedro IV of Portugal (King Peter IV), an important figure of Portuguese Liberal Wars.
Torre dos Clerigos is a tower of the Clerigos church - this is where I took this photo.
The tower has 225 steps and is over 75 meters high.
On the left hand side you can see the Porto Cathedral, the central and right side occupies the
Duoro River.
A detail of the bridge. See the jumping kid?
The boat is called rabelo and it was traditionally used to transport barrels of port (the wine)
down the river for storage.
